Keep Documents Ready
You will need the following documents:
- Your original birth certificates
- Two individual Certificates of No-Impediment (You can obtain this from the Superintendent Registrar but it should not be obtained more than 3 months before your wedding date). Remember that it takes quite long (around 1 month) to get this certificate.
- A Consular Registration Certificate
- If you have changed your name, you will require Change of Name Deed.
- If you are a divorcee, you will have to produce a Decree Absolute
- If you are a widow/widower, you will have to produce the Death Certificate of your former spouse.
You will have to get all these documents legalized by your respective country’s legalization department and then get them translated to Greek.
If you are going to have a religious ceremony, there too you will require documents which should be translated to Greek. Most of the times, the priest will do it for you; but if he doesn’t, you will have to do it. For getting it translated from the priest, you will have to send them to him at least 4 weeks before your wedding date.
Another point to remember is to send your Marriage Banns in the church or Town Hall before your wedding day.
In short, you have to allot ample time for these legal document matters.
What Type of Wedding Gown to Choose?
While choosing their wedding gowns, brides often consider factors like styles, colors, embellishments etc. However, while choosing a wedding gown for your Santorini wedding, you should first consider the heat there and choose something very comfortable, uncrushable and lightweight. Even in the evening, there is a scorching heat in Santorini. So, you should keep that in mind. Even grooms should choose a light, white dress that can turn heat back.
Most importantly, don’t forget to visit VisitGreece.com.gr because it is loaded with information. You will find it of great use in celebrating a perfect fairytale wedding in Santorini.
