Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. After all, you have prepared for this day for several months and you want everything to be perfect. Nevertheless, there might be instances that some things will just not go according to plan, such as having a sudden beauty emergency. What are they and what should you do about them?
Broken Nails and Chipped Nail Polish
Sometimes with all the excitement that happens during the day of the wedding, your manicure or pedicure will get ruined. A chip in the polish or a broken nail might be a small thing but it can affect your mood and ruin your look. If your nail polish gets chipped, use a cotton swab soaked in nail polish remover and repair your nails. Apply a new coat of polish on the nail. If your nail breaks, just clip all of your nails and re-apply a new coat of polish. To avoid this scenario, just have your nails buffed before your wedding or use a clear nail polish to give your nails a bit of shine. Chips in clear nail polish are hardly noticeable.
Pimples and Blemishes
If you get pimples and blemishes days before your wedding, you can ask your dermatologist for a shot cortisone which will get rid of the problem right away. If you get pimples and blemishes on the eve of your wedding, cleanse, tone and moisturize your face and allow the makeup artist to do some magic. They are trained to cover any flaws with concealers and carefully applied makeup. If you suddenly get a pimple during the wedding reception, ask ice water and lemon from the waiter. Use the ice to lessen the swelling and squeeze a tiny bit of lemon juice to dry it out.
Hair Don’ts
Another beauty emergency that can happen during your wedding day is having your hair ruined by too much activity and humidity levels. Your hair can come undone from its elegant chignon, your carefully tousled hair can appear flat after a few hours or your curls can look like a giant pouf ball when you get to the wedding reception. Make sure that you bring bobby pins to keep your hair in place. To avoid having flat hair, flip over and run your fingers through your hair then apply some hair spray. Stand back up and repeat the same process. To avoid having frizzy hair, rub some hand lotion on your hand and smooth out the flyaways on your hairdo. Just use a tiny amount to make sure your hair will not appear too oily.
Prepare an Emergency Kit
Take a cue from the girl scouts who are always prepared for anything. On the eve of your wedding, prepare a beauty emergency kit that you can take with you on the church and in the reception venue. Aside from essential makeup items, your emergency kit should also include a sewing kit (with safety pins and a small pair of scissors), extra stockings, tissues, medicines (antacids and pain relievers), feminine hygiene products, band-aids and wet wipes. You might not need every thing you put in your kit but it is better to anticipate problems than to be sorry later.
