Helping a bride-to-be plan for her big day can be a very stressful task. On top of that, there is the bachelorette party and the bridal shower. Fortunately for you, the bridal shower can actually be a lot of fun, and planning it doesn’t have to be all that complicated. Remember that the point is to provide guests with the opportunity to gift the bride face-to-face, and also for the bride to honor her guests for celebrating her special day with her. It is important that you match the bridal shower theme to the wedding theme; therefore, for an elegant wedding, you need an elegant bridal shower. Here are some tips on how to plan an elegant bridal shower:
The venue.
For elegance, choose a quiet, understated location with a neutral, tasteful décor. If you know people who are willing to host the shower in their homes, then you can save a lot of money. Just make sure the home you choose has plenty of space for all of the guests, and that you will be allowed to decorate as needed. Otherwise, it is a good idea to rent out a private room in an upscale restaurant, or even at a hotel.
Food.
It is a good idea not to serve anything too messy (there’s nothing less elegant than a stained shirt or dress). Finger foods are a good idea – think hors d’ouevres for a sophisticated palate – and are relatively easy to serve. To top it all off (and maintain the party’s elegant status), serve wine or champagne.
Invitations
. For elegant bridal shower invitations, keep it simple. Think thick card stock with a decorative border, or even just metallic or embossed lettering. You may even know someone who knows calligraphy. There are a number of places where you can find pre-made invitations, or even invitations that you can make, print, or customize yourself. Shop around and stay within the theme and color scheme of the wedding, itself.
Decorations.
For an elegant bridal shower, you need to keep the decorations simple, classic, and understated. Think white and/or pale colors, with a few bursts of colors from the wedding theme here and there. Don’t overdo it. Some clean, pressed tablecloths and fresh flowers will go a long way in making the statement you want.
As you can see, putting together an elegant bridal shower may just be the simplest part of your wedding planning duties. Just follow these tips for venue, invitations, food, and decorations, to stay within the elegant theme . . . and to give the bride-to-be a time she will always remember.
